Since its inception in 1900, the Oswaldo Cruz Institute has been built day after day by people who are passionate about what they do. To mark history and pay tribute to illustrious figures who were part of this institution, each pavilion of the unit was named after a personality, better known as patrons, whose contributions helped create an institute of excellence in research, teaching, technology and innovation, strategic for the country, recognized nationally and internationally for its actions in public health. See below the tribute from the IOC to some of these notables of Brazilian science.
