The Laboratory of Immunopharmacology (IMUNOFAR) of the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (IOC/Fiocruz) has been working since 1998 to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of the inflammatory process of infectious, tumoral or degenerative origin and the multiple aspects and applications related to human inflammatory diseases.
The Laboratory's projects are structured in 5 main interconnected lines to address key issues in the area of immunopharmacology with relevance, basic, translational and clinical, seeking to contribute to the identification of new therapeutic targets, characterization of prognostic biomarkers, development and improvement of clinically relevant models inflammatory diseases of infectious and non-infectious origin, as well as the development of pharmacologically effective substances in the treatment of inflammatory and infectious diseases.
