
To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz), celebrated on May 25, 2025, a special program throughout this year brings together lectures, round tables, exhibitions, launches, tributes and awards.
In May and July, the first two acts of the 'Symposium' were held IOC Jubilee 125 years', which will have two more editions until the end of the year.
Bringing together professionals and students from the Institute, public administrators, and experts from renowned institutions, the Symposium's first session discussed advances and challenges in science, health, technology, and innovation and delved into the institution's trajectory.
The second act included an edition of the Somos Manguinhos project dedicated to Maria de Nazareth Meirelles, presentation of the new candidates, 1st Milton Ozório Moraes Symposium and an international lecture on metagenomics.
Exhibitions, visits, and health education activities are also part of the celebrations, bringing the Institute's history and science closer to the population.
Founded in 1900, the IOC is one of the most traditional research centers in Brazil and the unit that gave rise to Fiocruz. 125 years of invaluable contributions to national and international public health.
