The Laboratory of Clinical and Experimental Pathophysiology (LABFISIOPAT) of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz) has been carrying out basic and translational research, technological innovation and teaching in chronic non-transmissible and infectious-parasitic diseases since 1992 in experimental and human models.
The central axis that guides the research carried out is the understanding of the pathophysiology, prevention and treatment of public health problems that include metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, cancer, Chagas disease, Covid-19 and neurodevelopmental diseases.
The group also operates in the technological development of kits and devices, which generate patent deposits, for the diagnosis of diseases of great relevance in public health. Thus, researchers add competence and research productivity, innovation and teaching that contribute to the institutional mission in areas of great interest in public health.
The Laboratory, accredited for the period 2023-2028, was previously called the Cardiovascular Investigation Laboratory.
