The Laboratory of Ticks and Other Apterous Arthropods (LAC) of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz) specializes in Apterous Ectoparasites, Bionomy and Pathogeny. 

It is a National Reference in Vectors of Rickettsiosis and houses the Apterous Arthropod Vector Collection of Community Health Importance (CAVAISC) of the IOC.
