The Laboratory of Technological Development in Virology (LADTV) of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz) has been active, since 1993, in the development and application of new methodologies in diagnosis, epidemiology and pathogenesis of viral hepatitis of enteric transmission, with emphasis on the research of hepatitis viruses of fecal oral transmission (A and E).
LADTV's lines of research in the area of virology also include hepatitis B and C viruses and other etiological agents that may eventually compromise liver function, such as: adenovirus, human herpes virus, cytomegalovirus, parvovirus B19, Zika virus and equine hepatitis.
In addition to these viral agents, the research group is attentive to the emergence or re-emergence of etiological agents that cause hepatitis, which may impact the health of the Brazilian population.
