The Interdisciplinary Medical Research Laboratory (LIPMED) of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz) has been acting since 2009 in the investigation of biological and molecular mechanisms of pathogenic processes, particularly those caused by infectious agents, in a systemic and multidisciplinary perspective.
It is a National Reference for the Molecular Diagnosis of Leishmaniasis and houses the Environment and Health Bacteria Collection (CBAS) of the IOC.
LIPMED's lines of research focus on investigation of immunophysiopathogenic mechanisms, epidemiology, parasite-environment relationship, epidemiology, parasite genetics, vaccine development, health education, therapeutic assays and diagnostic tests for infectious diseases, with recent work in chronic diseases.
