Laboratory of Innovations in Therapies, Teaching and Bioproducts

The Laboratory of Innovations in Therapies, Teaching and Bioproducts (LITEB) of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz) has been operating since 2009 in an interdisciplinary way in carrying out studies and proposals for innovations in the three major lines that give it its name.

The Laboratory studies pathophysiological and immunomodulatory processes in the face of conditions related to infections and chronic diseases, in search of biomarkers and therapeutic approaches with translational research in preclinical and clinical experimentation.

It also conducts research in education in biocsciences, with active methodologies to create social technologies and educational materials for the promotion of health and for dissemination and communication in science, with a focus on ScienceArte, joy and creativity. It also develops biomodels and bioassays and we test chemical, natural and synthetic products to identify biocida (viruses, bacteria and protozoa) and environmental.

In terms of therapies, it studies pathophysiological and immunomodulatory processes in the face of different conditions that generate infectious, chronic, degenerative or genetic disorders. Develops and studies new drugs and approaches using in vitro and in vivo biomodels, and preclinical and clinical experimentation.

In terms of teaching, it carries out research in education in biocsciences, creates social technologies, materials and educational processes for health promotion, dissemination and communication in science and health, with emphasis on the articulation between Science and Art and active methodologies that promote joy and creativity.

In the line of bioproducts, it develops biomodels and bioassays and tests chemical, natural and synthetic products to identify biocfor viruses, bacteria and protozoa and environmental action.
