Created by Oswaldo Cruz in 1909, the journal Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz publishes scientific articles in the area of biomedical sciences and is one of the oldest scientific journals in Latin America. In 2023, the journal recorded an impact factor of 2.5 (check the evolution of the publication's impact factor, according to Journal Citation Reports, in the graph below).
Currently, the journal has a modern and dynamic website, with good interaction with the user by allowing searches in the collection and the creation of a profile to receive reading suggestions, similar to the portals of the most renowned scientific journals in the world.
The modernization was financed by the Research Support Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Faperj) and its main objective is to consolidate the journal's international character.
It is known that the journal Memórias has maintained a strong presence and prominence among scientific publications specialized in Parasitology and Tropical Medicine around the world, for more than 100 years.
Indexed in several international databases, including the Journal Citation Reports, Web of Knowledge, SCImago, Scopus, Bioline International, the journal is among the ten international journals with the highest impact factor in Tropical Medicine, occupying the 10th position, and among the 20 in Parasitology, with the 14th place.
In 2022, the journal had 6,3 references published in scientific articles and books. It is the 14th journal with the highest impact factor and the 9th most cited publication in Latin America, in all areas of knowledge.

Memórias magazine offers the possibility of online submission of articles and has the DOI system, an international identifier of scientific articles, which gives more credibility to its content. All material published on its pages can be accessed free of charge through the website and the historical collection of the publication is also available free of charge on the internet, digitized, since the first edition.
All of its articles are available for search in the Scielo and Pubmed databases, allowing access by researchers from all over the world to the many historic discoveries for Brazilian and world science published in the journal since 1909.
