Biotechnology Technician

About
The Technical Course in Biotechnology has the mission of training professionals to work in basic and applied research in Biotechnology, Parasitic Biology and related areas, perform laboratory activities, field and quality control related to Biotechnology, assist in the implementation of new technologies, in the production of immunobiologicals and diagnostic kits and ensure the proper functioning of the technological apparatus in the research and technological development units. Aimed at high school graduates, the course adds knowledge of practical and theoretical value, aiming at training for research activities and for the execution of specific methodologies.

Bioethics, Biosafety, Quality in Laboratories, Introduction to the Laboratory, Microscopy Techniques, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Histological Techniques, Molecular Biology, Fundamentals of Bioinformatics, Immunology, Bacteriology, Mycology, Virology, Protozoology, Helminthology, Malacology, Entomology: Vectors and Reservoirs of Parasites, Introduction to Biotechnology, Laboratory Animals, Clinical Analysis, Biological Drugs and Immunobiological Development Technologies, in addition to the mandatory supervised internship, offered by the Laboratories of the IOC and by other units of the Fiocroz.

Workload
The course is full-time (8 am to 17 pm) with 40 hours per week. Theoretical classes are offered predominantly in person, however, teachers can decide whether to use a remote or hybrid format.
