In 2024, the scientific journal Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz reached the milestone of 115 years. Founded in 1909, with the aim of disseminating research carried out in IOC, the publication has become an international journal with global reach, recognized as one of the most relevant in the biomedical field, especially in parasitology and tropical medicine.

Throughout its history, 'Memórias' has published important studies, such as the description of the complete cycle of Chagas disease; it has stood out with detailed articles, in two languages ​​and with a wealth of illustrations; it was a pioneer in online publishing, always remaining a diamond-level open access journal, with no fees charged to readers or authors.
