The Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/FiocRuz, in partnership with the School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (EBA/UFRJ), will inaugurate, on April 1st, the exhibition "The spectacle of things in the 125 years of..." IOCThe exhibition celebrates the anniversary of IOC through an artistic lens on scientific production.

The exhibition brings together more than 70 works by 16 artists and will be installed in the A. Overmeer Rare Books Section, in the Moorish Castle of the FiocRuz, in Manguinhos (Av. Brasil, 4.365). The curation is by Anunciata Sawada, from the Laboratory of Innovations in Therapies, Teaching and Bioproducts of IOC, and Dalila Santos, from EBA/UFRJ.

The exhibition is the result of the extension project “Short Circuit – Art, Science and Innovation”, which since 2018 has promoted the inclusion of visual arts students in the laboratories and research spaces of the Faculty of Arts.iocroz.

Inspired by botanical and biological collections, and by the daily routine of laboratories, the young artists developed creative and unique works.

The encounter between artists and scientists enriches students' education and contributes to new ways of interpreting and disseminating research, revealing the potential of art as a language capable of translating, expanding, and sensitizing perspectives on science.

The exhibition opening features a special program scheduled for April 1st, starting at [time]. See details below:
