Dialogue on partnerships in the area of ​​One Health in Portugal

Representatives of the IOC PICTIS presented a lecture at the University of Lisbon.

Advancing dialogue for international cooperation in Portugal, representatives of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/FiocRepresentatives from the Ruz Institute and the International Platform for Science, Technology and Innovation in Health (PICTIS) participated in an event that discussed partnerships in the field of One Health.  

Held on January 30th, the activity marked the closing of the 'One Health' course of the newly created Doctoral Program in Planetary Health Studies at the University of Lisbon. 

The event included the participation of representatives from IOC and from PICTIS, the Ibero-American Science and Technology Program for Development (Cyted, in its Spanish acronym), and the Horizon Europe Program (the European Union's main scientific funding initiative).

The F researcheriocRuz, José Luís Passos Cordeiro, scientific director and vice-president of PICTIS and scientific advisor to the International Relations Coordination of IOC, presented the structure of the International Platform, created through collaboration between the Fiocruz, through the IOC, and the University of Aveiro, in Portugal. 

Among other points, Cordeiro highlighted the possibilities of integrating doctoral projects developed in the Planetary Health Studies Program with the graduate programs of... IOC. 

Launched at the end of last year, the Doctoral Program in Planetary Health Studies is an interdisciplinary initiative that brings together more than 15 faculties and institutes of the University of Lisbon. 

The 'One Health' course was offered by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, organized by the Associated Laboratory for Animal and Veterinary Science, which integrates research centers from three Portuguese universities: Lisbon, Porto, and Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.
