Committed to contributing and developing strategic actions aimed at improving the health of the Brazilian population, the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz) has been playing a prominent role with the Ministry of Health, especially with the Secretary of Health and Environment Surveillance (SVSA/MS).
At the invitation of the folder, a delegation from the Institute participated on March 22 and 23 in planning activities on surveillance and regaining high vaccination coverage.
An unprecedented initiative, the '1st Planning Workshop for the Recovery of Vaccination Coverages' brought together experts, researchers and institutions that are already developing work on vaccine-preventable diseases to understand the causes of low coverage in the country.

The meeting opened a space for exchanging experiences and proposals for a plan with concrete actions to be developed by the National Immunization Program (PNI), or in partnership with states, municipalities and institutions.
“As preparation for the workshop, an institutional Working Group was formed on the subject that provided subsidy for the delegation of the IOC. In addition to the PNI, we defend planning for vaccination education. A team from Bio-Manguinhos was also present", said the IOC, Tania Araujo-Jorge.
In addition to Tania, the Chief of Staff, Daniel Daipert, the deputy director of Research, Technological Development and Innovation, Elmo Amaral, and the head of the Laboratory of Respiratory Viruses, Exanthematics, Enteroviruses and Viral Emergencies, Marilda Siqueira, participated.
At the 'Workshop on Prospective Dialogues: Surveillance in Health and the Environment', the Institute was represented by the deputy director of Reference Laboratories, Outpatient Clinics and Biological Collections, Maria de Lourdes Oliveira.
Since the beginning of January, the Institute has maintained a constant dialogue with the Ministry of Health.
The first meetings were with the SVSA secretary, Ethel Maciel, and with Board of Directors of the National Health Council (CNS). In February, it was the Institute's turn to meet with Eder Gatti, Director of the Department of Immunizations at SVSA. More recently, the meeting was with the Director of the Ministry of Communicable Diseases, Alda Maria da Cruz.
