IOC and IRD pave the way for new international cooperation

Meeting strengthens ties between Brazil and France and projects new scientific collaborations

Representatives of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz) and the Institute of Research for Development (IRD, in the French acronym) met on Monday morning (19). 

The meeting aimed to discuss new opportunities for international cooperation between the two institutes, which already have a history of partnerships. The creation of new projects and the exchange of researchers between Brazil and France were discussed. 

“Strengthening what exists and opening up possibilities”, summarized the IRD representative in Brazil, Abdel Sifeddine. 

Among the collaborations already developed by IOC and IRD, are training for professionals and the international project Mosaic.

On the French side, the following were present: 

  • Erica Telford, researcher at the National Institute for Medical and Health Research (Inserm), France; 

  • Abdel Sifeddine, IRD representative in Brazil; 

  • Vincent Corbel, IRD researcher and visiting professor at IOC 

  • Julio Benavides, IRD researcher. 

The International Cooperation Advisor at the Center for International Relations in Health (Cris), Ilka Vilardo, also participated in the meeting.
