The Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz) was present at the National Preparation Meeting for the Period of High Transmission of Arboviruses, held between October 24th and 27th, in the city of Alexânia, on the outskirts of the Federal District.
Organized by the General Coordination of Arbovirus Surveillance of the Department of Communicable Diseases of the Health and Environment Surveillance Secretariat of the Ministry of Health (SVSA/MS), the meeting aimed to update arbovirus surveillance of the state health departments and secretariats. municipal health departments in the capitals and other priority municipalities, to review contingency plans, organization of services, laboratory diagnosis, clinical management, intra-municipal risk stratification and incorporation of new technologies for vector control.
At the meeting, the IOC was represented by researchers José Bento Pereira Lima, head of the Laboratory of Biology Control and Surveillance of Insect Vectors, Nildimar Honório, of the Laboratory of Host Virus Interactions, and Denise Valle, of the Laboratory of Experimental Medicine and Health, in addition to the coordinator of the Department of Journalism and Communication, Raquel Aguiar.
In total, representatives from all capitals and 15 other municipalities participated in the event, the purpose of which was to learn about the planned operationalization of the application of new strategies in practice, on the real scale of control programs, in different city scenarios.
