Launched in June 2021, the book presents information that has become even more relevant amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the proliferation of false news about vaccines. With accessible language, the publication addresses fundamental concepts to understand the role of immunizers in the prevention of infectious diseases.
Divided into six chapters, the work clarifies what vaccines are, presents the history of immunizers and the National Immunization Program (PNI) in Brazil and discusses the reasons for vaccination, in addition to current challenges and perspectives for the future. The book is part of the collection 'Temas em Saúde', by Editora Fiocroz.
Created in 2015, the Abeu Award seeks to annually highlight the best publications by university presses. In addition to the book 'Vaccines', two other publications by Editora Fiocruz were recognized in this edition.
