From August 5th to 8th, the second act of Symposium IOC Jubilee 125 years continued the celebrations for the anniversary of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz) with scientific debates, tributes and cultural activities.

The program began with a special edition of the Somos Manguinhos project, dedicated to the trajectory of researcher Maria de Nazareth Meirelles, with the presentation of the medal that bears her name to 15 female scientists.

There was also the presentation of the Institute's new employees, symbolizing the renewal of staff and the continuity of the institutional mission.

Among the scientific highlights were the 1st Milton Ozório Moraes Symposium, in honor of the researcher, and an international lecture on metagenomics, which discussed global trends in health surveillance and research.

The event also marked the launch of the project 'In Memoriam – Presences beyond Covid-19', which preserves the memory of professionals and students of IOC victims of Covid-19, with the installation of the first plaques in tribute in the campus pavilions.
