Reference Laboratories and Outpatient Clinics

In the strengthening of Health Surveillance, the diagnosis of diseases is a routine work, side by side with the improvement of methodologies and the training of professionals. Responsible for supporting the Ministry of Health in epidemiological surveillance, prevention and control of a series of diseases, the Reference Laboratories, inserted in the Research Laboratories of the IOC, assume a strategic role for the Unified Health System (SUS), contributing to the reference in diagnosis and the identification of vectors.

As a technical-scientific vanguard of the Ministry of Health, the Institute has highly specialized professionals and cutting-edge technologies, while training health professionals and providing consultancy in their areas of expertise. It also works at an international reference level with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), in various diseases.
