Regional Reference Laboratory for Arboviruses
linked to Laboratory of Arboviruses and Hemorrhagic Viruses
Description:
Regional reference for the Ministry of Health, the Laboratory works in the following diseases: dengue, yellow fever, chikungunya, Zika, Mayaro, Oropouche, West Nile Fever, Saint Louis encephalitis, eastern equine encephalomyelitis, western equine encephalitis, Ilhéus, Rocio and other emerging and re-emerging arboviruses of clinical-epidemiological importance.
Scope: Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Norte.
It is a member of the Arbovirus Laboratory Network of the Region of the Americas (RELDA) of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Global Yellow Fever Laboratory Network of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Services offered:
• Active laboratory surveillance of arboviruses through molecular detection, viral isolation and detection of antibodies from samples of human and animal cases;
Genomic surveillance for monitoring circulating genotypes and lineages;
Monitoring the circulation of emerging and re-emerging arboviruses;
Development and/or use of fast, sensitive and specific innovative technologies;
Production and distribution of reagents to central laboratories and educational and research institutions;
Quality control of Central Public Health Laboratories (Lacen);
Technology transfer;
Human resources training;
Evaluation of commercial source diagnostic tests;
Supply of quality control panels;
Assistance to the National Laboratory Network, Ministry of Health, PAHO and WHO.

Description:
Regional reference for the Ministry of Health, the Laboratory provides support in investigations into yellow fever transmission.
Scope: Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Norte.
Services offered:
• Taxonomic identification of wild and urban vectors involved in the transmission of yellow fever;
Molecular diagnosis of amaryllic virus infection in insects;
Consultancy support and technical assistance in epidemiological investigations into yellow fever transmission;
Training of teams linked to the Ministry of Health in the taxonomic identification, collection and transport of mosquito vectors;
Training in the molecular diagnosis of arbovirus infections in mosquito vectors.

Regional reference for the Ministry of Health, the Laboratory provides support in investigations into the transmission of West Nile Fever.
Scope: Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Norte.
Services offered:
• Taxonomic identification based on the morphological characters of mosquito vectors involved in the transmission of the West Nile virus;
Molecular diagnosis of infection by this virus in insects;
Support in investigations into the transmission of this problem through consultancy and technical assistance;
Training in taxonomic identification, collection and transport of mosquitoes that vector the disease.
